420 Punt South Yarra
A very warm welcome awaits you at 420 Punt Boutique Guesthouse – South Yarra.
We are Sarah Anne and Jamie, a young Scottish couple who chose to make Melbourne our home five years ago. We love the city and think Melbourne rightly deserves its title of ‘Most Liveable City in the World’.
We love travel and know just how important it is to arrive at your destination to warmth, comfort and good hospitality.
We are here for you throughout your stay, for advice on shopping, eating, sport, theatre or anything at all about Melbourne... just ask. We want to ensure that your stay at 420 Punt Boutique Guesthouse is comfortable and memorable, so it feels like a home away from home.
420 Punt is a beautiful property built in South Yarra in 1941. It was designed by architects Twentyman and Askew who were also responsible for the shopping precinct in the famous Block Arcade in the city, and designed many of the engine houses which supported the Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Company.
420 Punt is an Art Deco blend mansion and was a product of the late Arts and Crafts design movement. We know that 420 was built for a fashionable pharmacist H.M Ogg who had pharmacies in Collins Street and Toorak Road in the 1940s.
420 enjoys a great position nestled between the fringes of the City of Melbourne and South Yarra.
The house sits in its own grounds with a beautiful palm tree adorning the garden. Many people have enjoyed resting under her magnificent leaves over the years and we invite you to do the same.
Punt Road is a famous thoroughfare connecting the Northern suburbs to the South of the City. Historically Punt Road met the Yarra River and the only way to access the city was to cross the meandering river via the Punt – hence the Road name.
We love the history the building enjoys and take pride in being able to continue her story nearly 80 years on.
